Core Learning: Blended Instruction
We call this approach to learning, blended instruction: a combination of the best of face-to-face classroom learning, on-line instruction, and real-world experiences.
The blended instruction model enables students to learn at their own pace on-line within a classroom setting that offers strong adult support. Blended instruction combines the effectiveness and socialization of the classroom with technologically enhanced on-line materials, and real world experiences that provide opportunities for students to apply their skills. It benefits students by offering courses that would not otherwise be available at the school (such as AP and college level classes) and benefits teachers by providing the opportunity for individualized instructional plans.
On-line learning and assessment enables instant diagnosis and support so that students who need additional help can be pulled out into an individual or small group setting, and advanced students can proceed through the curriculum at an appropriately challenging pace (ultimately taking a larger range of electives or advanced courses). |
